Award Details

The Heineken Prizes for Arts and Sciences (the Heineken Prizes) were established between 1963 and 2006 by various Heineken funds and the Academy and have been made available by the Alfred Heineken Fondsen Foundation since 2019.

The Heineken Prizes are:

  • Dr. H.P. Heineken Prize for Biochemistry and Biophysics (including microbiology and the physiology of seed germination)
  • Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for History
  • Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Medicine
  • Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences
  • C.L. de Carvalho-Heineken Prize for Cognitive Sciences

The Heineken Prizes are awarded once every two years. Each consists of an amount of US$ 200,000.
